Albert and Allen Hughes (aka the Hughes brothers) never matched their thrilling debut " Menace 2 Society" with any of their subsequent films. But the closest they came was their hilarious and brutal documentary about pimps and prostitutes in America called "American Pimp." Which means the HBO scripted TV series about the same subject the brothers will be producing, "Gentlemen of Leisure," should be a sure bet for awesomeness.
The Oakland-based film will follow a successful pimp who's considering retirement (sounds a lot like the Snoop Dogg associate The Bishop Don Magic Juan). Allen Hughes has compared the show to "The Godfather," except for pimping. Which sounds amazing.
Hopefully the show will be good; both HBO and the brothers Hughes need a hit right now. Also, us HBO subscribers need something to replace the recently departed "The Wire." Here's hoping…
