News > AVP: Requiem Changes Release Date

Written by David Morgan

Slashfilm is reporting that the release date of Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem has been changed from Christmas to January 18th. That's right, they're taking on JJ Abrams's mysterious 1-18-08. Originally the film would have been going up against Charlie Wilson's War, The Great Debators, The Water Horse, Sweeney Todd, National Treasure 2, and Walk Hard. Obviously they made a smart choice. AVP2 wouldn't stand a chance against National Treasure 2, and the nerdbase would be more likely to go see Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd than the sequel to a movie that was absolutely abominable.

But Slashfilm thinks the sci-fi action film will run into trouble from 1-18-08 or whatever they're calling it these days. That's yet to be seen. We don't even know what the film is called, let alone much about the plot. A mysterious ad campaign does not necessarily equal dollars in the bank. 1-18-08 might very well still beat AVP in the box office, but at least it'll be a closer race than it would be against those Christmas releases.

Personally can't wait for Charlie Wilson's War. Read the book and the movie is looking good.

Please. AVP2 is funnier than the Walk Hard trailer.

I thought the christmas tie in that was in the avp2 trailer was bad ass. The trailer makes it look good to me, so I'm actually disappointed they changed it.
