Writer-director Joe Carnahan recently wrote the following over at his blog:

Kids:

'Smokin Aces: Blowback' looks like it's about to ramp up hard. They [Universal] flipped
for the script. Not a single note. Not that we can't get in there and really do
some story work and fine tuning but it looks pretty damn good right now.

I'd love to find a way to work our regulars into cameos in the flick. I've put
my mind to this and we'll devise something slick to give some camera love
to the loyalists.

The film will go straight to DVD, but fans are holding out hope that this will not affect the quality of the feature as it will still be under Carnahan's supervision.

I wouldn't expect Blowback in the near future though. Carnahan's got White Jazz coming up, and if he ever wants Killing Pablo to make it to theaters before Escobar he can't be messing around.
