News > Y The Last Man possibly a Trilogy

Written by Lucas C Haberstich

The final issue of the post-apocalyptic/terrific comic book series, Y The Last Man, hits the shops tomorrow, but USA Today brings a bit of information about the film version.  The Disturbia team of screenwriter Carl Ellsworth and director DJ Caruso are working out the details of the world without men.  No longer trying to squeeze the entire five years' worth of story into one movie, Caruso's film will adapt just the first fourteen issues of the cult comic, opening up the possibility of a trilogy.

Talking about the nature of the Y mythos, Caruso says, "I don't want to say it's the end of the innocence, but it's actually a man-child who has to become a real man now. I think it's a really simple, beautiful theme, but at the same time, the movie's really pop-culture entertainment."

There's so much to enjoy in the series and its cast of characters that I am very relieved to see they won't be trying to cram the whole series into a two-hour movie.  And my shelves need a DVD boxset about an escape artist man-child and his helper monkey having adventures in an unmanned world while making pop-culture references.

Wrong director for Y. Disturbia sucked.

Y is also one of my favorites. Even a trilogy is not enough time. I think Y would make a great cable series, maybe even network if they wanted to do something crazy like get viewers..
