Bee Movie is alright. It’s a bit long. That was my main complaint. It drags on a bit at the end but my daughter didn’t seem to mind so… Ya, it’s ok. The animation is top notch and Jerry Seinfeld does his thing but this time he’s an animated bee not a New York comic.

The plot of the movie is basically that Jerry has graduated from school and it’s time for him to get a career. When your a bee you only get one chance to pick. You get a job and stay at it up till your death. It sucks to be a bee in that way. So, Jerry doesn’t really dig that and he decides to leave the hive for awhile and see what the rest of the world has to offer.

Only certain bees, those hired for pollen collecting duty ever actually leave the hive. They are like the rock stars of the bee world. All the chicks dig them. I wonder what for though, isn’t the queen the only one to lay eggs? Anyhow, Jerry joins them for a trip and while outside the nest meets up with a human woman, voiced by Renee Zelwegger, who actually has a pretty good voice for this kind of work. This was prolly her best performance in years. On the real. Actually, to me it’s prolly her best performance ever, but my wife likes those Bridget Jones joints so she’d disagree with me.

So Jerry breaks the cardinal rule of bees and talks to Renee. Ya, bees can speak English and communicate with people. They just choose not to. Prolly a good idea. Anyway, Jerry and her become fast friends and during the course of their friendship Jerry discovers the honey industry and he’s appalled. He can’t believe how the bees are enslaved and how he and his friends have to slave away to make honey while there is so much being produced for human consumption.

He sues. Takes the whole honey business to court. That’s the deal with the movie basically. I thought going in that the movie was like a romance between a girl and bee. The whole legal thriller aspect was a suprise. It’s not often that you go into a movie and it turns out to be about something totally different then you thought. That’s kind of cool.

It’s a kid movie. They throw in some yucks for the grownups but unless you are going with a kid you can skip it. Most of the funniest parts to me where the faces that Jerry-Bee makes when he’s scared. I can’t recall any of the jokes though. It’s not a classic. You’ll see it, enjoy it and then prolly forget it. it’s fun while it lasts though.

I thought it was good and my wife and kids loved it . I mean it was 100 times better than Shrek 3 , what was that was garbage.
