Editorials > Coen Brothers to Make Spaghetti Western

Joel and Ethan Coen, still riding the waves of their resoundingly successful neo-Western No Country for Old Men, have made public their plans to make a proper "spaghetti western" in the near future. According to WENN, Joel warns, "We've written a western with a lot of violence in it. There's scalping and hanging … it's good. Indians torturing people with ants, cutting their eyelids off." Ethan points out, "It's a proper western, a real western, set in the 1870s. It's got a scene that no one will ever forget because of one particular chicken."

I'm not sure what will make this a "spaghetti western" (unless they actually plan to shoot it in Spain or Italy like the Sergio Leone movies, it probably just means it will be stylistically similar) but after that description offered by the brothers, who could care? Memorably gruesome scenes featuring poultry? Count me in.
