Editorials > Deathly Hollows May Create Two Films

United Press International

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) – It may take two full-length movies to do justice to the final “Harry Potter” book from British author J.K. Rowling, Hollywood sources say.

Crew members currently working on the film adaptation of Rowling’s novel “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince,” have said the final book of her magical series, “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows,” will be released as two films, the Daily Mail reported Sunday.

The sources said the reason for breaking the book into two films is to respect the artistic vision of the literary work and is not aimed at cashing in on the highly profitable series.

“There’s so much to fit that the view is the last movie should be in two halves,” one anonymous source said. “There is a huge battle when Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, takes on Voldemort that needs to be done really well.”

The British newspaper said that to date, the first five “Harry Potter” films have earned nearly $4.9 billion in box office sales.

It's smart from a financial standpoint but man is that first half-movie going to be boring compared to the second half.
