Editorials > Details About Brian K. Vaughn's "Roundtable"

Brian K. Vaughn, the multi-award-winning comic book writer ("Y: The Last Man," "Ex Machina," "Runaways") and current writer/producer for "Lost," sold a spec script called "Roundtable" to DreamWorks earlier in the month. A few intrepid film fanatics have gotten their hands on the script and one copy was sent to Ain't It Cool's "Moriarty," who reveals some new details about the film.

Already known was that the picture was "Merlin" meets "Ghostbusters," meaning Merlin the Magician is stuck in present day and recruits new knights of the roundtable who are charged with defending England against magical threats, including the Arthurian villain Morgana.

"Moriarty" fills us in further by illuminating Vaughn's obvious casting wish list (scientist Simon Mintz most likely written for Simon Pegg, former athlete and current fatty Sir Ricky Butler most likely was written for Ricky Gervais and then one real life movie star who's been knighted who'd be "hilarious casting" if Vaughn was able to pull it off).

There's also apparently a battle with a dragon and some other details that might interest you, so check out AICN's post for the rest.
