Don Johnson is finally returning to the movie scene with the upcoming Disney movie, When in Rome. He will play Kristin Bell's father, who, as the story goes, steals some coins from a magical Italian fountain and is visited by the men who had thrown the coins and are subsequently in love with her.

Johnson described Rome as being "Capra-esque but with a modern and very contemporary spin on the fun and the comedy." The writer-director of When in Rome met Don Johnson back in 1990 on a project titled The Pro. "I gave him one of his first writing jobs," Johnson said. "I was going to direct it, and Jack Nicholson was going to play the Pro, who was a wizard who brings a boy into the golf world."

Johnson has been busy with television and a few European movies, but has returned to film. "The climate has changed in that there's very few slots for dramas or for the things that I wanted to do," he said. "And I didn't want to do another cop show, though I would consider something if it were international in scope and global in nature."
