DreamWorks SKG has acquired all domestic and remake rights to Paranormal Activity, an ultra low-budget indie film that premiered at Slamdance last week. Israeli immigrant Oren Peli shot the film in his own house over the course of one week with a high-def camera. His stars were two unknowns named Katie Featherstone and Micah Sloat who also helped man the camera.
The original film will likely be released straight-to-DVD, but it may wind up in theaters internationally. In addition, Jason Blum (The Darwin Awards) is already on board to produce the remake.
