Ever the opportunists, 20th Century Fox have decided that Shawn Levy, the director behind the recent box-office success of Night at the Museum and its sequel, will be the man to reign in the comedic talents of Tina Fey and Steve Carell in the film “Date Night”.
Despite a string of quasi-successful films Carell is set to star opposite Fey, herself fresh off the successful run of “Baby Mama”, once they both enter hiatus from their Emmy nominated shows.
The film centers around a married couple whose pre-planned date nights begin to take a more unique route than the usual fodder. Director Levy cites the talents and wits of his two stars as the main compliment to the tone of this character comedy.
Can geek queen Fey and comic wonderboy Carell strike gold together? It all depends on the writing talents of Josh Klausner, the man who divided fans of the weakening franchise when he wrote Shrek the Third.
