Well, he's prettier than Seth Rogen, but is Gerard Butler funny? Yesterday evening Variety announced that the 300 star would be joining Katherine Heigl for The Ugly Truth's battle of the sexes.
The new romantic comedy from the team that brought us Legally Blonde (director Robert Luketic with writers Karen McClullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith) sees Butler playing a chauvinistic correspondent who hosts a TV segment, "The Ugly Truth" (we have title!), for the morning show Heigl's character produces. The two characters become involved "in a series of outrageous tests to prove (the TV correspondent's) theories on relationships" and presumably find love.
Shooting begins in April and I'll be interested to see how frequently Butler will yell about fighting the battle of the sexes in the shade. Meanwhile, Heigl will eventually come around and fall in love with her unlikely match. I hope it's funny.
