Well I am guessing we all know that Ryan Reynolds is playing Hal Jordan in the big screen adaptation of Green Lantern.
Now while I am a huge comic book aficionado (geek), I can’t really get behind this movie. I mean I know that they are going to take the first movie to set the origin up , and then they will attempt to the make the sequel a faced pace action movie leading into the 3rd installment.
Not that any of that is bad IF you have a great Character but trust me he is not a great character well not in the beginning anyway , not until he goes mad and wipes out a couple of billion beings does he get interesting .

So I’m going to say that this movie will go the way of Superman Returns ok but won’t even break even.

i agree. Ryan reynolds isnt the right catch for a heroic character for a heroic role. he seems to manage as a smooth talker and a lady's man. Generally the adapted animation has Green Lantern to be a black american (John Stewart) from the Justice League. we have a lot of whites doing well in the industry of Super heroes. Samuel L Jackson would prove a difference with the upcoming Nick Fury (shown after the credits of Iron Man) to be released in 2012.

I would suggest if we portray a black-american to do role. My ideal pick for a muscular built fella would be Michael Jai White. thats attitude and a fella you wouldn't want to mess with. His performance on Blood and bone, Black dynamite, Spawn sends the message across.

Plus he should be a leader in the Justice league because he can out beat Superman as he can include Simulated Krypton radiations. Unbeatable in short.

Sorry Robbie Max, i must respond to what you said
this is the Origin Story, it MUST be about Hal. you cannot have John Stewert as the first Green Lantern. John was fine for the animated series. I would prefer to see Kyle.

The re-imagining of the marvel series with the Ultimates series, Fury was based on Samuel L Jackson, so it was a logical choice to try and get him for that role. And nothing to do with skin color. I am very surprised at how many Americans bring up the issue of skin color in comic book characters, than any other country.
There are alot of Afro-American Characters, so leave Hal alone.
Black Lightning, Vixen, Firestorm, The Spectre, Black Panter, Storm, Bishop, Static Shock, Capt. America, Steel, Blade, and the list goes on.
