Oh yes, Halo fans, your movie is still being made.
After a couple of false starts it finally appears that Microsoft has began pulling its head out of its monolithic corporate ass and has started serious work on the Halo movie.
Of course, this still being Microsoft, they are attempting to preemptively destroy any goodwill announcing this movie will generate.
Confused yet? I'll explain.
See, some tasty concept art for the Halo: Fall of Reach has surfaced on latinoreviews.com. The artwork shows an interesting take on the Haloverse and is gorgeous enough to make any fan of the series wet their pants with glee.
However, Microsoft, instead of just announcing the movie that everybody knows is being made anyway, have decided to take the path of self-righteous asshole and threaten legal action against the site. For posting a picture found floating around the internet.
Here is the letter sent straight from the desk of J.K. Weston. http://www.docstoc.com/docs/1035169/MS_LR
Personally, I love the use of common phrases being shoved into quotation marks. It really helps the Weston look even more like a smug bastard when he won't allow words from the common tongue touch his lawyer-ese.
Also, Mr. Weston, if you happen to be reading this, I'll let you in on a little secret. The way you spell your name out, with the first letter of your first and middle name, make you look like an insufferable douchebag.
Good luck stopping everybody on the entire internet from making fan art of one of the most popular video games of all time. Hope that works out for you.
In any event, the fact that Microsoft is so hellbent on curtailing any of these images from leaking means that the movie is in production. It's coming, Halo fans, probably sooner than later. Ironically, the images we've seen so far have given us hope that it's at least going to look really, really pretty.
