News > Jaden Smith Next Karate Kid

Up and coming film star Jaden Smith is going to take on a remake of the 80's classic, The Karate Kid.  According to Variety Jaden, son of superstar Will Smith, is following in his dads footsteps after his powerful role in The Pursuit of Happyness.

The script is being written by Chris Murphy, and the film will shoot next year in Beijing and other cities. While the new film will be set in that exotic locale, it will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor.

The younger Smith, who next stars in "The Day the Earth Stood Still," is a martial arts practitioner.

blasphemy. Must Hollywood remake every childhood memory I have? Now when I'm old and I tell my grandkids "wait till you see this, this was a movie called "Karate Kid", it was a big hit when I was your age" they'll go "We don't want to watch that old one Grandpa, we want to watch the new one they are remaking that comes out later this year, it's actually a remake of the remake of the remake"

So we're going to have a little 8 year old getting knocked around? I so hope Chuck Norris gets cast as Johnny so he can roundhouse kick this kid and knock him into adulthood.
