News > Keanu Reeves plays a robot!

Written by: Noah Sanders

For all the shit Keanu Reeves has gotten over the years, he's managed to persevere and craft a successful, if not always great, acting career.  The question is: how does an actor, seemingly completely bereft of emotion or the ability to change his facial expression succeed in Hollywood?  Easy, by occasionally playing the part of a robot.

Reeves will play the role of the heavily armed robot harbinger Klaatu in the remake of Robert Wise's The Day the Earth Stood Still.  Klaatu comes to Earth to warn our dumbasses that continued warfare will lead to our destruction by constantly watching otherworldly creatures.  Uh, duuuuh.

Seriously, Reeves will rock in the role he was born (or built) to play, people will forget about his seemingly vacant screen presence, and he'll survive another few years sailing on the coattails of more talented actors.  Until once again his star starts to fade, and he once again steps in to the role of a robot.
Thus is the circle of life.

I hate to be a total nerd here and I might be wrong, but Klaatu wasn't a robot, as I recall. Gort, his bodyguard with the laser visor and whatnot was a member of the robot race that policed the galaxy and all that jazz, but I was pretty sure Klaatu wasn't a robot. In fact, he's injured to the point of almost dying and the ro-but has to revive him. Am I wrong?

No, Drewbdoo, you're right on all counts. Klaatu was an alien, but a fairly wooden one as played by Michael Rennie, so Keanu should fit right in. He's already got practically the same name.

Oh. My. God. Have either of you two even seen a vagina before? Not your sisters' and not on the Intarweb. Please keep knowledge such as this confined to your Batcave, Fortress of Solitude, or whatever else you call your parent's basement.
