News > LaBeouf talks Indy 4, Transformers 2, Y The Last Man

Written by Lucas C Haberstich

Comingsoon had some chit chat with the LaBeouf over the weekend.

The 21 year-old Shia dismisses a rumor that he would continue the Indiana Jones franchise after The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, waits on the strike's end for Transformers 2, and admits that he is enjoying the good fortune he's experienced so far in his career.  Well, yeah?

The busy LaBeouf is also a strong possibility for the lead in DJ Caruso's film adaptation of comic book Y The Last Man which follows the trials of the last surviving human male on Earth after the spontaneous, simultaneous death of every other male mammal.  When asked to compare the scope of Y to his slated sequels:

"This is a more realistic vibe than both of those films. The action is different. It's less grandiose and more offsetting(ly) real. To make it look that real, it's almost easier to go bigger. Indy has a campy… there's a humor to all of the action. It's a very different type of action. This is not slip on a banana peel, that type, this is a whole different deal. It's very real. It's candid reality."

'Candid reality' is the best description of Y The Last Man's style and scope that I've encountered, and the young actor would be appropriate for the role, capable of the wit, dopiness, and heartbreak of the lead character.  We can only hope his workload allows him time for the project or we may risk Keanu shoehorned into the role.  I pray I'm wrong.  You should too.

I don't see how that movie could be about anything but sex.

Seriously, from the sound of the plot, the only way this movie would be effective would be as a porno. And none of that soft core crap either!

I forgot to mention that the last surviving male also has a male pet monkey. Does that make it more or less pornographic for you?

It's actually a really good story. It's adapted from a Vertigo comic by the same title.
