There's nothing to confirm that anything like that is in the works. However, it is notable that, in the words of Variety, "Producer Kevin Kasha has obtained feature rights to Neile McQueen Toffel's "My Husband, My Friend," centered on her life as Steve McQueen's wife."
The book is a memoir of Ms. Toffel's sixteen year marriage to the king of cool which ended in divorce in 1972. This was McQueen's first and longest marriage of three before his death in 1980.
Kasha must feel confident that there's still a market for a film about McQueen, as evidenced by the actor's 1963 Ferrari selling for $2.3 million last week. I imagine it'll be hard finding an actor to play McQueen. They'd basically have to not express emotion very much, lean against things, and be awesome at it. It's a fine line between "coolest actor ever" and "upright log."

I'd favor Bale here, considering also that he looks more like McQueen, but I agree that Craig would be awesome as well.

Has that rugged All American face and walk.
Can do stoic and quiet as well as explode with action.
I've seen him do that "I'm cool" thing that Steve McQueen did.
Check out "Serenity" for confirmation of this.
If not this, I hope he'll be Western bound, as this very site says they're making a comeback.
