Michel Gondry can do it all. He's got that Tokyo anthology film coming up with Steven Seagal's daughter, he's got that animated film with his son on the way, and now he's working on a documentary about his "auntie."
Gondry told MTV, "I’m doing [a documentary] about my Auntie who has been a school teacher for 50 years." Putting aside any doubts, he went on to say, “It’s amazing."
My aunt’s an amazing woman. She’s 80 years old. Most of the schools she taught in don’t exist anymore but we went on location to them. I like the idea of going somewhere with a camera and not knowing what you’re going to get.
We shot [my aunt] on film and [also] did some animation.
His last documentary was 2004's Dave Chappelle's Block Party. It's amazing when you have the kind of reputation in the film industry where you can make a film about any subject and know that your audience is going to go see it and have complete faith that it's going to be like nothing they've ever seen before.
