News > Na-na-na-na-na-na, Batmobile!

Written by John Lichman

A guy with way too much money bought the Batman Forever Batmobile for a peasant's $297,000, which is less than Warner Brothers' expected $800,000 or that the car cost $2,800,000 to make.

But the best part has to be the stipulation from WB that the Batmobile can never be driven in public, only allowed out at auto shows and public events and the owner must ensure no one ever uses the car for any reason. As a commenter on Digg said, "$300,000 car with real-life DRM." All of this secrecy has only one reason: the buyer is in fact Christian Bale and he is going to drive the Batmobile around town at night, fighting crime with stealth–and a car with a jet-engine, the inability to make turns and literally glows thanks to the neon surround its' engine.

Then again, Bale has the Tumbler. So maybe Val Kilmer is just trying to relive his glory days.
