News > Notorious B.I.G. Movie Has a Director!
Written by: Noah Sanders
As the open casting call for an actor of sufficient talent and weight to play Christopher 'Notorious B.I.G.' Wallace continues,
Variety is reporting a director for the film has been found:
George Tillman Jr.
Yup, the man behind such weighty films as Soul Food and Men of Honor (a certifiable stinker for all involved) will be directing the bio-pic of the greatest rapper of all time. Tillman's films aren't bad, they're just nothing special, and a bio-pic about the life and times of Biggie Smalls should be something special. On top of that P. Diddy is exec-producing the film, and the choice of Tillman seems suspiciously like an easy pushover who'll take the paycheck and do whatever the hell Diddy tells him. With P. Diddy, possibly, in charge, this film could get both sycophantic and sentimental reaaaaaaaaaaaal quick.
There's an amazing story to be told about the Biggie's life, I just don't think Tillman is the man to bring to the screen.
