Academy Award-winning screenwriter Abby Mann passed away Tuesday of heart failure at either age 80 or 84, depending on your source. Mann wrote such "socially conscious" screenplays as "Judgment at Nuremberg," "Ship of Fools," and "The Marcus-Nelson Murders." He was also responsible for the creation of the detective show "Kojak," starring Telly Savalas.
Born Abraham Goodman in Philadelphia, PA, Goodman began writing for television after World War II and eventually moved on to feature films. He is survived by his wife Myra and a son.
