And the war continues.While I understand that competition of this sort often stimulates progress, I'm beginning to question the wisdom of these format battles. While either HD-DVD or Blu-ray will ultimately emerge has the victorious disc of choice, the process is protracted enough to have rather dire consequences for the early adopters that happen to have bought in to the losing side of the argument. Thousands of dollars dumped into a dead format? Not an appealing proposition, and perhaps the chief argument against jumping on a bandwagon of this nature. HD-DVD has been steadily losing ground to its more intriguingly named competitor, Blu-ray, over the course of the last year.They received a bit of a boost recently, however, as, according to USA Today, Paramount pictures has chosen to jump on the HD-DVD train to hell. Good luck, guys. My prediction: Blu-ray will be the dominant format by the end of 2008. Anyone taking bets?
