News > Paramount Reveals New Blu-Ray Releases

After finding HD-DVD the wrong format to get behind, Paramount is playing catch-up and has now announced some releases that will get the studio back into the Blu-Ray business it abandoned last summer.

Starting May 20th, you can expect to see Blu-Ray versions of "Face/Off," "Next," and "Bee Movie" hitting the shelves, says The Hollywood Reporter. They'll be followed on June 3rd by "Cloverfield" and "There Will Be Blood." "The Spiderwick Chronicles" Blu-Ray will be released on the same day as its DVD on June 24. "No Country for Old Men" will roll out in August.

All of those movies will probably look incredible on Blu-Ray, especially "Blood" and "No Country." I saw part of "Chicken Little" on a Blu-Ray player at a department store once, and the picture quality alone made that movie look like the greatest cinematic achievement of the past ten years. That's saying something.

I bought No Country on blu-ray the day the movie came out.

Oh, I see. In the original article they said "Slated for international-market release" which I interpreted as "the whole world including America," when they really meant "everywhere not-America." Sorry about the confusion. That is indeed a Blu-Ray disc you own and not a particularly thick slice of Genoa salami as I had at first suspected.
