What was he thinking when he gave Raising Arizona 1.5 stars?? That is probably the funniest movie I have ever seen. In fact words could never express just how hilarious that movie is. It is an experience, music and all.

Could someone explain, for the Non-Americans, what the highest possible amount of stars is in this rating?

From Ebert's 2002 book:
Four stars = great film
Three stars = good film
Two stars = Fair
One star = poor

But, Napoleon Dynamite is an awful movie. If you like the same joke over and over again, I guess it's good.

Well Chimcham not all of the movies are going to be great but I can agree that most of this list is ridiculously rated.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome only received 4 stars? It's cleary a 5 star extravaganza.

And werewolf and raising arizona both total snoozers. and was there any funny lines in splash?

ok, joking aside - this is a great list of guffaws!
