Peter Jackson has recruited his good luck charm Andy Serkis to act in an unspecified role in the director's upcoming Tin Tin trilogy. Jackson is planning to direct at least one of the three films himself, with Steven Spielberg helming another.

According to Variety, Serkis will not play the title role, "a junior reporter who will follow stories even though he often finds his own life in jeopardy." The character comes from a Belgian comic strip by Georges Remi (aka Herge) that is very popular around the world (though not so much in the US). Serkis is best known to audiences for his motion capture portrayals of Gollum in Lord of the Rings and King Kong in King Kong. 

Principal photography on the first Tin Tin film is expected to begin in September.
