Shane Black will direct Universal Pictures’ "Cold Warrior."

Based on a script by Chuck Mondry, pic revolves around a spy from the Cold War era who comes out of retirement to team with a younger agent from the new school to confront a domestic terrorism threat orchestrated by Russia.

Black directed "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," which Warner Bros. released in 2005. He’s best known for penning the "Lethal Weapon" pics, "The Last Boy Scout" and "The Long Kiss Goodnight." He took a break from the biz after penning 1998’s fourth installment of the "Lethal Weapon" franchise.
