News > Showalter to Direct Night of the Living Dorks

Written by David Morgan

Warner Independent Pictures has hired comedian Michael Showalter to direct an American remake of the German horror comedy Night of the Living Dorks, originally written and directed by Mathias Dinter. The new screenplay is by Chris Bishop. Roy Lee, Doug Davison, and Adam F. Goldberg are producing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

Described as Revenge of the Nerds meets Shaun of the Dead, the story revolves around three not-so-cool school friends who decide to try an old voodoo ritual. When they later die in a car crash, they find themselves reborn as zombies and try to take advantage of their new lifestyle.

Showalter is best known for his work with his three-man alternative comedy group Stella, his eleven-person former sketch comedy group The State, and for co-writing and starring in cult comedy Wet Hot American Summer. He made his directorial debut with The Baxter, which he also wrote and starred in.

This is going to be gold. Showalter is a freaking comedic master. "Cinamon Milk" is the best thing ever.
