Hollywood has dawned its toga and is gearing up for a Greek spectacle. After the $458 million box office smash of Gladiator, Hollywood has stepped back into the ring for more. This time Zak Penn will be writing and producing a film titled The Argonauts for 20th Century Fox. The Argonauts will be based off the Greek tale of Jason and the Argonauts. It takes place a few years before the Trojan War when Jason leads a group of valiant sailors in search for the Golden Fleece. The name Argonauts comes from the ships creator Argo.
Relativity Media is working on War of Gods which is about a Greek warrior Theseus, who leads a fight against imprisoned titans. Also at least three Hercules pictures are in development around town, including Universal Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment’s "Hercules: The Thracian Wars," which Peter Berg is attached to direct. Meanwhile, Universal also has a "God of War" picture in the works, based on the epic Greek myth-inspired video game, with Brett Ratner attached.
