I'm mad someone beat me here to post about it because yes, it DOES LIVE UP TO THE HYPE. This was a phenomenal movie...something outside of the typical superhero genre. It finally treats Batman the way the mythos should be treated, grounded in reality, with very REAL consequences and very real fear. It instills a true feeling of hopelessness throughout the movie, and even at the end, you still have the sense that, damn, Gotham City is a f***ed up place...

My friend, who's a die-hard Superman fan and has always, ALWAYS given me sh*t about how much better Supes is than the Bat, finally admitted that THIS movie made him see that Batman is not only a respectable character, but a badass one at that.

The Dark Knight works so well because Bruce Wayne is a man faced with trying to be a protector, and moreover, whatever the city needs him to be...hated, feared, loathed...whatever it takes so the citizens can have both the safety they crave and someplace to channel both their fear and hatred.

Seriously, whatever you're doing, drop it, and go see The Dark Knight. It is sincerely THAT good.

But seriously guys...this movie did indeed rock balls. See it now. Joker was definitely the highlight of this movie and the most enjoyable part of the movie to watch. Awesome flick.

The Dark Knight was an amazing movie and Ledger was obviously the best performance, but Eckhart did a great job with his part as well. Not to mention that the Rachel Dawes in this movie can actually fuckin act as opposed to Katie Holmes.

Punctuation is not random, there is a difference between "to" and "too" (and neither of them is the same as "two"). "Guys" indicates multiple guys, whereas "guy's" shows possession. Well the movie was ok , not the great end all be all [of] comic movies . @drewskins While I agree with the majority of your post's comments (particularly the statement about Eckhart), I strongly disagree with your comment about Maggie Gyllenhaal as being a great Rachel Dawes. Although the debate between who is a better actress is an easy one, I have to say that Gyllenhaal didn't bring anything more to the table than Holmes did in Batman Begins. In fact, I thought Gyllenhaal's performance was bland, stale, and I didn't notice any real difference between her and Holmes.

Sure, this could be because there was nothing for Gyllenhaal to really sink her acting teeth into, and I'll also say that her performance didn't really detract from the film in any huge way, but she was far from great and in know way did she demonstrate a Rachel that "can actually fuckin' act."
