I wanted to see this movie, because of the big actor names, the trailer was funny and I thought the story would be interesting. What I saw absolutely disgusted me. It was an example of a new low in what our culture finds funny. From a heroin addict, tied to a tree begging to be released while offering oral sex to someone to release him to constantly making a joke out of homosexuality. The movie also attempts to profit from countless jokes directed toward the mentally disabled. The movie had a heavy focus on the drug addiction of one of its main actors, the most profanity I can ever remember hearing in a movie, numerous scenes of alcohol abuse, sexual references and sexual simulated movements. There seemed to be an atmosphere of disgust amongst many of the movie watchers as we left the theater. The pyrotechnics were exciting, but didn’t compensate for the perpetuation of filth pushed throughout the movie. Disappointing to see the actors resorting to a new low for humor. It shows me, even our most talented actors (Stiller, Gooding Jr., Cruise and others) have no moral restraints when it comes to trying to bring in the big bucks. Movie needs to be rated NC-17 or something along the lines of F for filthy.

A moral flop as much as a cinematic one, and sad reflection on where our culture of humor is going. Embarrassing.

Cuba Gooding Jr. wasn't in this movie and although I am a fan of some of them, the cast of Ben Still, Jack Black, Downey Jr., Nick Nolte, and Matthew McConaughey are far from American cinema's finest, most talented actors.

Also, while I'm not going to debate your opinions regarding the film itself, I strongly disagree with your claim that the movie deserves an NC-17 or a newly constructed "filth" rating. What about the film's content is morally apprehensible or wholly unacceptable for anyone under the age of 17 to view? I'm not sure if your familiar with the genre of comedy or some of the adult works of Ben Stiller, Jack Black, etc.

I suppose that living in a vacuum of School of Rock, Iron Man, and Night at the Museum would cause you to lobby the MPAA with an all new rating after viewing an adult comedy starring actors who have previously chosen to do family-friendly PG films, but fortunately, cinema is far more broad than inoffensive content Phil.

What is embarrassing is your utter lack of a sense of humor and dramatic knowledge, particularly in the realm of comedy. This is an adult, absurdest comedy and everything within the film is fair game to that genre.

I have to agree with Insane here, for the most part. I would say however though that Downey is one of the finer American actors of this generation. Other than that, yah, I agree with Insane. This movie is NO worse than any other Judd Apatow or Will Ferrel comedy I've seen. I respect your view on this movie, because it's your opinion and you are obviously entitled to that, however I don't agree with it.
